As part of the Wild Roots Nature Fest 2025, our Freeman's Wood trustee and local Wellbeing Champion, Shawn Duckers, led a set of activities that were designed to bring us back to nature while gaining lots of physical and mental health benefits.

Although the weather warned us of thunderstorms, our brave volunteers headed out regardless, and were rewarded in abundance!

The weather turned out to be very sunny, albeit a bit windy. We had plenty of visitors, and all who engaged thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learned new ways of boosting their wellbeing alongside nature.

The activities we delivered were yoga, tai chi, sound bathing, singing walks, positive affirmations, grounding, 'getting your hands dirty' to improve your gut health, 'bury your pants' which showed us how healthy compost works, and we had plenty of handouts to back up our sessions with data!

We would like to thank our attendees who also braved the dubious weather and travelled from various locations across Lancaster to learn how to boost wellbeing in nature, and we are looking forward to bringing this back bigger, and better in 2026!
